Christmas 2014: TN + Ruby Falls + Rock City

We started Christmas vacation off with a bang with Husband's family.  We flew to Tennessee and got the party started at Ruby Falls and Rock City in Chattanooga, TN.

"In 1928, Leo Lambert and a team of excavators found a breathtaking waterfall located over 1,120 feet below the surface of Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, TN. Lambert named the falls after his wife, Ruby, and opened the area as a public attraction in 1930. "(Source: http://rubyfalls.com)

That evening we stayed for the light extravaganza at Rock City. It was foggy and drizzly so we missed out on the infamous 7 state lookout view, but we enjoyed the lights anyway!

For Christmas Eve we headed over to Husband's Uncle's resort, Historic Banning Mills, which features the world's longest zip line canopy tour. Although we didn't do any zip lining we enjoyed the lodge and family.

We ended up wondering out onto the suspension bridge. Even though I had wedges on it was still pretty intimidating.

Celebrating with Husband's family is always a joy.  I love the traditions they have.  One of them being Husband's Dad reading the Christmas Nativity story from John while the kids act the story out.  Here is little niece, Genna being Mary with Cabbage Patch Doll baby Jesus.

The other tradition is on Christmas morning after presents are opened and stockings have been raided we complete the time with a silly-string party fight. It's a huge mess, but it's AWESOME!

The other tradition is always working through a puzzle during the time we are together. And Christmas is not complete and no one can board any plane, or depart in any way unless that last piece is put in the puzzle. We go crazy!

I love that no matter where we end up at Christmas we always incorporate these traditions into the season.
