Hallway Makeover...

Oh Lord, our hallway, a.k.a the bane of my existence. Eh, I take that back, it might be our kitchen.  For this post...it's the hallway.  It's the one space in our house that we haven't touched since we moved in over a year ago. I of course, as with most of our home projects, decide to change things in a split second and devote my weekend to it without much thought.

Husband and I had discussed changing things around but didn't make our final decision until we set another goal for 2012. In 2012 we wanted to set a goal of inviting as many people into our home as we could.  Whether it's for ministry, dinner, a movie, or family passing through we want to open and share our home to the people we find near and dear to our hearts.

SO...with that we decided that a great way to remind us of all of the great people we've had in our home this year was to do a chalkboard wall in the entry way. Now if you know us and you've seen any past blog posts, you know that we already have a chalkboard wall in our living room.  I wasn't crazy about having ANOTHER wall in the entry way, but when I think about all of the names that will be on that wall when the year is over, my heart felt at peace about the gratitude we will be experiencing when 2013 rolls around.

Here's a look at the makeover.

BEFORE:
The white door is the entry to the garage.  The dark wooden door on the left is the front door.
 Front Door
This painting is actually covering a stained glass window from the original design of the house. I thought it was ugly so we put this over it.
Shadow's gotta be in the middle of everything.
Font door is brutally scratched from the former owners dogs.  Nothing that a little polish won't fix.

PROGRESS:
Paint sampling the wall on the right, tearing out the sheet rock accidentally on the left... OOPS!
Yeah, that was NOT on purpose. EEeeesh!
 The stained glass.
I decided the light fixture, needed to be replaced too. This is one was was just eh.

AFTER:

 Spray painted the old fixtures.

 Painted over the old artwork.

New Calypso light fixture from IKEA.
