Thanksgiving 2014 - Part 2: Vegas + Hoover Dam

Phase 2 of our trip began on Monday the 24th.  Our goal was to make it to the Hoover Dam by mid-afternoon.  I will say the drive is NOT exciting going from LA to The Hoover Dam.  Lots of desert and lots of flat lands.

Along the drive we kept seeing signs for the Mad Greek Cafe, and I mean A LOT of signs. So of course....it's the only place in the middle of the desert to eat.  So we did. (Marketing works people!)

We got to The Hoover Dam and wow... it's AMAZING!  There is a majestic memorial bridge that welcomes you into the park that is a beautiful overlook onto the Dam.

We ended up getting on the last tour of the day and enjoyed the sunset through the mountains.

You can actually stand in 2 time zones on the bridge for the Dam. So cool!

Before making our way to our hotel we had to stop by the infamous Pawn Stars, Pawn Shop.  I had been before, but it was Husband's first visit. Loved it!

We stayed at The Mirage Hotel, caught dinner, and saw The Blue Man Group....not recommended unless you are inebriated....in which, we were not. Here is the view from our hotel room onto the Las Vegas Strip.

The next morning we wanted to swing back by the Hoover Dam and take some pictures before heading out to the Grand Canyon.  The Michael O'Callaghan - Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge is a work of art, built into the side of the mountain that overlooks the Hoover Dam. It's a beautiful perspective of one of the largest man made engineering structures in the world.

Walking across the bridge.

Well DAM!

This concluded Phase 2 and we began our drive to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Phase 3 to come!
